First Shop Update of the Year!

Carrie Dawson

Today marks my first shop update of the year, and I’ve been pouring everything I have into finding that creative space where I can make pottery that brings a little light to your days.

One of the reasons I named my studio Morning Light Studio is because I love how the morning light of a new day holds so much quiet promise. If today was hard, tomorrow offers a fresh start. And if today was good, it’s worth holding onto—because recognizing those moments, even the small ones, can be a kind of steadiness when the world feels unsteady.

Lately, with these dark winter days, I’ve been thinking a lot about rest (dark) and energy (light)—how we move between the two, how each has its own purpose, and what that balance looks like in life and in creativity. That’s where the inspiration for my sun and moon mugs came from—these long months of deep rest and waiting for the light to return.

I also carved one mug with a black bear in a cave - there’s something about the idea of hibernating, truly resting, that feels so right this time of year. I have a feeling I’m not the only one who can relate!

I’m grateful to have been able to focus on work that I hope brings you that same feeling. If you’d like to see more photos and videos of what I’ve been working on, you can find them on my Instagram or Facebook stories.

These mugs will be in my shop today 2/7/25 at 8 pm est.

Thanks for being here. I hope this year brings you moments of light, however they find you. ❤️
